I recently picked up an Anschutz 54 with the thumb through wood stock. I am looking for the wood palm stop, (Which is no longer legal) but want to restore the original Match Gun.
Secondly, is there a scope rail that can be used to slide a scope on and off? I want to use this combo for the local siluette matches. Any suggestions on either????;)

This gun could also use a new sear. I will check and see if they are available from Anschutz and let everyone know.

iistowan,

Sounds like a nice old classic.

Not sure what to do about the palm rest. I talked with Champion Shooter Supply a few weeks back regarding a rail that will mount on the dovetail that will make scope mounting a little easier. The rail is in their current catalog but it seems they are still sorting out some production issues so they are not actually shipping yet. (That was the word as of 7/7/10)

You mention a sear? Are you talking about the sear in the trigger or the catch on top of the trigger that holds the firing pin back or the lug on the bottom of the firing pin?

Although I ask those questions I am not sure if it will make much difference. A few months ago I was asking about parts for a mid-70s vintage single stage trigger and was told the unless I found a dealer who happened to have some old stock parts sitting in a bin I was out of luck as Anschutz no longer supported parts for those assemblies.

If everything else looks good you might find a gunsmith/machinist who could TIG weld some material onto the worn part regrind and reharden as appropriate. That could be a longshot and a fair bit of expense without guaranteed results.

Does CMP have something else going or did you mean a 1903? (Not a springfield 1903)

Anyone ordered one the 1913's from CMP? I was wondering how long it takes to receive the rifle?

Shot in a vintage match today. 03A3 Springfield barks a bit louder than my Anschutz... but I still had fun. Smile
